1

The Dye Plant

Your Tour starts in the city of Kurunegala.

You will first visit the dye plant where the handloom process begins with the dyeing of 100% cotton yarn into vibrant colours. Sip and enjoy a King Coconut from the garden, where treated water from the wastewater treatment plant is used for irrigation. The dyeing is therefore 100% environmentally conscious. The employees can also take the produce from the local garden.

2

Handloom Weaving

Second step is a visit to the woman artisans, who practice the traditional skill of handloom weaving. You can even try to weave! You will visit the local crèche that enables the members to continue work while knowing that their children are in the safe hands of a qualified pre-school teacher. Stop for lunch in a village.

3

The Toy Factory

Next, you will visit the toy factory, which will take you through the stages of finishing the products. Around 200 women work in the factory. There is also a network of 100 home-workers who work and earn their living from the comforts of their homes.

4

Time for shopping!

After the toy factory visit, visit the local store, if you wish to take home some memories of this Fair Trade experience. Finally, head to the Elephant Rock and enjoy the view from this rock.
